Meet Your Personal Trainers Shona Stephenson. What is a personal trainer without passion for a sport?

Shona Stephenson’s Bio

Personal Trainer Shona Stephenson has over 9 years experience working in the health and fitness industry. Shona is a Cert 1V Master Personal Trainer, Sports Nutritionist, Punch Fit Instructor, Motivate to Train Certified Bootcamp Outdoor Trainer, elite athlete and on the Inov8 International Trail Running Team. Her Sponsors are Inov8, Hammer Sports Nutrition, Barefoot Inc, Body Leadership Physiotherapy.

Shona Stephenson is a busy mother of 2 who understands what it is like to have to loose 18 kilos of Fat in a year after having her first child. After having her 2nd child 10 years ago Shona entered her first event like most people the City2Surf  2007 in Sydney. She just wanted to enter a Fun Run before she turned 30. (She did this pushing a screaming 7 month old child in a stroller for the 14 kilometres and does not recommend this to anyone.)

It was not until 9 years ago that Shona entered her 2nd event the Sydney 1/2 Marathon 2008. Again Shona just wanted to enter an event because she was shaving her hair off to a no 1 to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation and thought 8 weeks before the 1/2 Marathon that it would be a great way to get the rest of her 2nd baby weight off. She ran her first 1/2 Marathon in 1 hours 46 minutes. She was is so much pain after this event with ITB inflammation that she decided to get stronger in her hips , glutes, quads and took up Trail Running. She decided then and there that injuries were never going to hold her back she just needed to get smart about her training. Shona ran her first Trail Event called The Great Nosh. Her friends saw the change in her body and started to ask her to train them. In 2009 Shona became a Cert 1V Personal Trainer. Shona then started up her Personal Training business specialising in;

  • Training women who have had a baby or who are pregnant
  • Training Anyone to Run their first event or trail event
  • Coaching and Mentoring anyone to run their first Ultra marathon
  • Training Teams to run Oxfam or Coastrek
  • Training Older Adults and improving their quality of life
  • Rehabilitation and Injury Prevention in Runners and all adults and children who want to exercise.

Shona soon understood that exercise alone does not get you to your health and fitness goals so in 2011 Shona became a Sports Nutritionist to provide a more holistic approach to weight loss. This allows her to write programs for her clients and give informed advise on nutrition whilst racing, training and resting.
